Regional workshop on energy transition | Wallis & Futuna
-
The Green Overseas program has officially launched a new regional workshop in Wallis and Futuna, bringing together representatives from the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) of the European Union and the United Kingdom to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in island contexts.
Organized in collaboration with the Government of Wallis and Futuna, this event takes place from October 21 to 24, 2025. It aims to strengthen technical and institutional capacities for the integration of renewable energies, to foster the sharing of experiences between island territories, and to promote concrete approaches to energy efficiency and climate resilience.

The workshop opened with speeches by Ahab Downer (Expertise France), Sosefo Motuku Tuisaoa (Minister of the Kingdom of Alo) and Christophe Ruff, who recalled both the common challenges and the unique opportunities facing small island territories.
