•           The archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and its 5,900 inhabitants enjoy an average annual sunshine duration of 1,400 hours, with 60% of this time concentrated between May and September. The territorial authority and its Council have adopted a strategic development program for the period 2021-2025, based on three main pillars: diversifying the economy, strengthening social cohesion and enhancing the attractiveness of the territory. Saint-Pierre andMiquelon benefits from direct financial support from the EU (in the form of budgetary support of 27 million euros spread over 5 years), and the co-financing of 20 infrastructure, transport or tourism projects.

  •           The territory has two electricity grids that are not interconnected, each powered by a diesel thermal power plant, providing electricity that is currently 100% carbon-based. However, the Council and the people of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon now want to embark on an energy transition and reduce their carbon footprint, notably by diversifying their energy mix: the objective of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon's Pluriannual Energy Program aims for a 30% penetration rate of renewable energies in the energy mix by 2026.

  •           The aim of this GO facility is to contribute to the deployment of renewable energies in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, in particular solar photovoltaic energy on buildings. The aim is to assess the technical and economic feasibility of such a project and the potential for photovoltaic energy on buildings in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon; to identify the conditions for developing such a project and possible support measures to encourage the population to use it; to assess the capacity for integrating photovoltaic energy into existing electricity grids, considering in particular the possible risks of injecting photovoltaic installations on buildings for existing electricity grids.
