Energy transition

  • Energy transition is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and the fight against climate change. For Overseas Countries and Territories, this transformation is essential in order to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, strengthen their energy autonomy and limit their carbon footprint.

  •           The Green Overseas (GO) program, funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France, supports the OCTs in their energy transition by providing concrete solutions tailored to their island and territorial realities.

  •           Green Overseas supports OCTs in implementing ambitious energy policies, by strengthening local capacities, facilitating exchanges of expertise and supportingconcrete initiatives to accelerate the transition.

Thanks to GO, the OCTs benefit from strategic and technical support to accelerate their energy transition through several axes:
    - Development of renewable energies: support for solar, wind, hydroelectric and biomass projects for cleaner, local energy production.
    - Improving energy efficiency: optimizing infrastructures, reducing energy losses and promoting energy sobriety.
    - Electrification of uses: supporting the transition to electric solutions in the transport and building sectors.
    - Exploringnew energy sources: supporting initiatives around green hydrogen and biomethane.
    - Access to finance: mobilizing financial resources to support innovative, sustainable projects.
