Context
Anguilla has limited freshwater resources and is facing increasing pressures linked to population growth, tourism development, risks of contamination and the effects of climate change. In this context, the sustainable management of groundwater constitutes a major challenge to guarantee the water security of the territory.

Stakes & objectives
The facility aims to lay the foundations for a national integrated groundwater resources management plan. The aim is to improve understanding, the monitoring and the governance of these resources to ensure their sustainable use and their resilience in the face of climate change.Stakeholders involved
Anguillan Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing, Information Technology and e-Government Services (MICUHITES) and stakeholders consulted as part of the project. -
Facility description
The facility enabled the completion of several technical studies feeding into the development of the groundwater management plan. These include a geohydrological assessment accompanied by cartographies, a climate change impact analysis, the identification of potential areas of contamination and the development of a resource monitoring plan. A draft integrated management plan has also been prepared, accompanied by recommendations aimed at updating policies and existing regulations.➡️ The project is well advanced and the studies have been completed, but are not yet published.
