Green Overseas Climate Change Resilience Community - Online trainings on coastal erosion and flood hazards resilience

The Climate Change Resilience Community of the Green Overseas (GO) Programme is pleased to announce a new series of online training sessions focused on coastal erosion and flood hazard resilience. Part of the second workstream on coastal resilience, this series provides practical tools and foundational knowledge to strengthen OCTs’ coastal management in the face of climate challenges.

Workshop Objective: Titled Managing the Coast, this five-session series is designed for OCT institutional representatives, policymakers, and coastal management officers. Key objectives include:
- Understanding decision-making processes and coastal management frameworks
- Exploring resilience policies and approaches, including nature-based solutions
- Participating in practical exercises and case studies to strengthen local capacities

Organization and Dates: The sessions will run from November 26 to December 5, 2024, and will be available in both English and French. Each two-hour session will feature presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, guided by expert contributions and insights from local stakeholders.
Topics Covered:
- Coastal Decisions – Decision-making processes and planning frameworks
- Policies and Management Measures – Approaches for resilient coastal management
- Nature-Based Solutions – Options and ecological benefits
- Building Coastal Policies – Adaptation and resilience decision frameworks
- From Decision to Action – Implementation and funding strategies
The sessions will be recorded and available on the GO Platform for further reference. This training is delivered by the consortium of Ramboll, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), and BRLi.
